NEW Saharan Iron-NWA 2677! This exceptional little iron is a new, and particularily beautiful iron from the Saharan desert of north-west Africa. It has been officially classified as a IIICD (aka: IAB subclass LM). Saharan irons are rare and this one is particularly rare with a total known weight prior to cutting of just 100 grams. After accounting for the 21 grams donated to Science as type specimens and cutting losses, there are only about 60-65 grams of this iron available for collectors, and we are the sole suppliers. This lovely little iron has moderately high nickel content of 12.8% and is very stable. Each of the specimens offered below is a full slice that was expertly prepared. Due to the extremely limited amount of this meteorite available, only one side was sanded and polished prior to being etched. This preserves the maximum amount of this lovely little iron. The elemental composition, as determined at the Unversity of Chicago, can be viewed at the bottom of this page.
