Superb Cave Bear fossils! These fossils are from the giant, extinct Cave Bear (Ursus spelaeus). They were recovered from caves in rugged eastern European mountain ranges. Cave bears were enormous bears which lived during the Pleistocene, and reached sizes of up to over a ton. Our ancestors were forced to fight giant cave bears for habitable caves. This is truely amazing when one sees the gigantic size of these creatures and realizes that our ancestors only had primitive spears with which to defend themselves from these enormous and powerful creatures.
