This is an exceptional, commemorative oil painting of type VII U-boat U-201 on patrol in the North Atlantic. It was presented to a delegation of the submariners association in Sept. 1996 during a visit to Germany. The back has been signed by members of the delegation. The painting has squadron insignia on the bottom left and bottom right. U-201 first saw service in December 1940 and participated in 9 North Atlantic patrols. She was sunk on February 17, 1943 off Newfoundland by depth charges with the loss of all hands.
