This gorgeous, original Henry Clive painting is of Anne of Cleves, Henry the VIII 's fourth wife. Famous RKO actress Merle Oberon posed for this painting. It is dated February, 1948, and was the cover art for the February 15th, 1948 edition of William Randolph Hearst's publication 'The American Weekly' enchantresses of the ages. This beautiful and rare painting is in vintage condition showing a few scratches and scuff marks and a couple very small areas of minor paint loss. It would probably benefit from a couple minor touch-ups. Henry Clive's art was used in numerous famous publications, and yet his original paintings are exceedingly rare. No one seems to know what happened to all of his original works, making this rare find a beautiful and unique piece of illustration art history.
This original illustration art by the famous Henry Clive would make a fantastic addition to any Art Museum exhibit or high end collection! It appears to be oil on a heavy card stock backed by board.
