Toluca Meteorites


The Toluca meteorite was first discovered by westerners in 1776 in the Toluca valley of Xiquipilco, Mexico. The indigenous people of the region used Tolucas to make iron tools for centuries. This meteorite is classified as a coarse octahedrite (group I), and when etched, Tolucas exhibit beautiful interwoven Widmanstatten patterns. Toluca meteorites are becoming very difficult to obtain, so don't pass up an opportunity to own one of these beautiful irons!
