NEW Saharan Pallasite! This pallasite is extremely difficult to obtain and there are only about 600 hundred grams available from dealers. Much of this 600 or so grams consisted of magnetite shale. There are some specimens though that consist primarily of olivine crystals and these are by far the most priced specimens of Al Mahbas! We have a number of lovely specimens available below. This pallasite is still under classification, and as soon as the classification data is available it will be posted here. It has been suggested that this meteorite be named Al Mahbas pallasite. It is interesting in that in most of the pieces the iron has weathered to magnetite, however the olivine is relatively much less weathered in appearance-certainly much less than would be expected from the iron's state of weathering. This pallasite is also unusual in that the olivine crystals are very small in size compared to those of other pallasites, almost like a "mini-pallasite". If you are interested in adding a new and very rare pallasite to your collection we recommend doing so sooner rather than later!
