We are very pleased to offer this spectacular, newly classified Eucrite-NWA 2784!
This is a particularly showy and beautiful Eucrite, having a brecciated cumulate eucrite host with extremely fine grained basaltic clasts. NWA 2784 is a single stone weighing only 141 grams before cutting losses. After cutting losses and type specimens donated for scientific research, only 98 grams remains for collectors. This is a very low TKW eucrite, and is in our opinion one of the prettiest little eucrites to come out of northwest Africa. As some collectors are beginning to realize, the NWA gold rush is over. Don't expect to see prices for these rare achondrites going anywhere but up in the coming years as collectors begin to realize just how valuble they are. All specimens (except the main mass) come in a Museum Grade membrane display case.

Eucrite (Polymict Breccia)
A 141 g stone was purchased in Erfoud, Morocco in October 2004. Description and classification (T. Bunch and J. Wittke, NAU): a brecciated cumulate eucrite host (grain size up to 2.1 mm) with clasts of subophitic (max. grain size, 0.12 mm) and recrystallized granular (avg. grain size, 0.03 mm) basalts. All analyzed lithologies are very similar in pyroxene and plagioclase compositions: orthopyroxenes, Fs62-64.1Wo 2.1-2.8; Ca-rich pyroxene, Fs27-31.1Wo43.7-44.8; pigeonite exsolution lamellae too thin to analyze; plagioclase, An87.8-89.7. Cumulate eucrite contains Cr-rich ilmenite (Cr2O3 = 15.1 wt %) and Cr-poor ilmenite; other lithologies contain chromite of similar composition (cr# = 0.85) and minor ilmenite. Low level shock (no maskelynite); weathering grade, W1. Specimens: type specimen, 24.1 g, NAU; main mass, Birdsell.
