William Barker, shown flying his Sopwith Snipe, was a Canadian. He enlisted at the outbreak of WW I and began fighting as an infantryman in the trenches. He applied for duty and was accepted into the Royal Flying Corp and began his rapid rise as one of the Empire’s leading aces.
