Manfred von Richthofen
Born in Breslau, Germany in 1892, Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Knight of Germany, was the highest scoring fighter ace of WW I with 80 victories. Nicknamed the Red Baron, he flew aircraft painted mostly all red. The Fokker Triplane shown here was the result of the German High Command requesting that a triplane be developed to compete with the famous and successful British Sopwith triplane. Richthofen achieved 19 of his last victories in this aircraft.
This original painting is 18Óx15Ó, oil and acrylic on illustration board.
