Flying a bright yellow Fokker D VII in mid-1918, Erich Lowenhardt, Germany’s third ranking ace, scored 21 of his total of 54 victories in just six weeks, the last days of his life.He lost his life flying in combat when the wing of his Fokker D VII clipped the wing of another German pilot, and out of control, he bailed out, but his parachute failed to open. He was only 21 years old and took his place alongside the great aces of WW I aviation. 18”x15”, oil and acrylic on illustration board.
This original painting would make a fantastic gift for any aviation or history enthusiast.
