The USS Hornet CV-8 was a Yorktown class of carrier during WWII. She is most famous for the launching of Jimmy Doolittle's B-25 raid on Tokyo, the first American Air strike against Japan. The Hornet also took part in the Battle of Midway and the Soloman Island campaign during which she was irreparably damaged.
