“Each painting I do begins with an idea, something that’s inspired me. I try to distill this into my own underlying abstract design and interpretation of nature. The balance I’m searching for lies in creating a work that is technically proficient as well as ‘painterly’, with great color and sense of light and drama."
Though he enjoys living the small-town life in the Verde Valley, Cody's reputation has grown into a national one. He has been featured in many of the top art magazines and is invited to prestigious shows such as the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art, an event he won in its second year and where he continues to be a top seller. He has also been a top seller (and award winner) at the Zion National Park event for the last several years. Cody's works are in the permanent collections of the Zion National Park Lodge, and the Grand Canyon Association.
A life long student of art, Cody has studied at the Loveland Academy of Fine Arts, as well as the Scottsdale Artists School, where, in 2003, he was awarded a Merit-based Scholarship. Cody also sold 12 paintings at the Zion plein air event in 2010. He has been a top seller each year and in 2012, was the top selling artist (25 paintings) at the Grand Canyon.
