Very Rare, complete 946 gram etched slice of Tafrawet
Iron. This is a large, complete slice from the only known Mass of
the Saharan Iron, Tafrawet (NWA 860). The total known weight of this fall was only 32 kg before it was cut. Following cutting and assuming a 25% rate of loss, there is, in all liklihood, only about 24 kg of this meteorite remaining in the World today. This slice represents nearly 4% of the total remaining mass of this meteorite. One side of this slice has been sanded and etched, revealing a beautiful Windmanstatten pattern reminiscent of the Cape York. This is a Class III AB medium octahedrite and you are very unlikely to find an etched slice of Tafrawet anywhere else, so don't miss out on this unique offering (this is our one and only piece-once it is gone that's it).
