Superb, Huge, 4400 gram etched Nantan meteorite
end-cut! You don't find too many etched Nantan's on the market. This
is primarily due to the fact that most Nantans are rust balls having little
if any iron left. This is why this specimen is so special. We obtained
an incredible, super-stable, solid Nantan from which we are making etched
slices and end-cuts available. At the risk of sounding trite, stable Nantans are as rare as hen's teeth. This beautiful specimen has a wonderfully remaglypted surface and gorgeous, bright etch patterns with Schreibersite inclusions. It also has amazing, huge Troilite nodules!
Not only are stable Nantans almost impossible to obtain, but they are also
quite difficult to cut. This may, in part, explain the lack of many high
quality etched pieces for sale. The difficulties preparing high quality Nantans are well worth the effort though, as can be seen by these results. If you are a meteorite collector, a high quality Nantan is a must.
